Listener-Submitted Waylon Jennings Birthday Tribute Playlist

Last Saturday (June 15) marked the birth date of one of the all time greats....Waylon Jennings.

Waylon was truly an original.  A Nashville rebel from the start.  Waylon had the look.  Early on he was a badass country guitar slinger.  In the 70s he looked like the shaggy haired drunk/stoned outlaw cowboy that he was.  Later in life, he took on the dignified air of a riverboat gambler.  And that voice.  THAT VOICE!!  He had it all.

I asked Dirty Roots Radio listeners to share their favorite Waylon songs, and told them I'd put a "birthday tribute" playlist together, from the submissions.

It's a (that don't make me bad people)...but, here it is!

Starting with my two initial suggestions that got the conversation going...

"Slow Rollin' Low"

"Ain't No God In Mexico"

And now the listener suggestions...

Lefty from Ohio suggested...

"Luchenbach, Texas" (w/Willie Nelson)

Tom in Wisconsin agreed, requesting anything with Willie...

"Mamas, Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys" (w/Willie Nelson)

Victoria in Colorado submitted two...

"Good Hearted Woman"  (w/Willie Nelson)

"The Wurlitzer Prize (I Don't Want To Get Over You)"

Jeff in the St. Louis area picked a gem...

"The Last Letter"

And JB in Virginia contributed...

"I Ain't Living Long Like This"

And just for good measure, I think I'll add another of my favorites...

"There Ain't No Good Chain Gang" (w/Johnny Cash)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WAYLON!!!  RIP...
