11/10/16 Leonard Cohen Tribute Show

Tonight I came into the studio, as always, with no definite plan in mind. What I did know was that I was going to try to find words to unify. This show has always been about healin' feelin'. A safe spot for just two hours.

Literally about 3 minutes before I was going on air, as I opened the computer that powers this show, the first thing I saw was a Facebook post about the death of Leonard Cohen. To say this wonderful artist and beautiful man means a lot to me is a massive understatement.

I felt as though I'd lost a loved one. I lost my breath. I started crying. And then I did the only thing I could do.

I loaded up his song, "If It Be Your Will" and began a tribute show.

And in just the first few songs I realized that Leonard Cohen, even in his death, had given once again.

He had given us a chance to forget, just for a while, all the tension and uncertainty and anger and fear that is in the air all around us this week. He allowed us to shift our focus from all that and toward something beautiful and unifying.

This was a very special night. From the bottom of my heart and soul, thank you for being a part of it.

And THANK YOU, LEONARD COHEN!

"Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in."

- Anthem (Leonard Cohen)
